Notary Publics in Nigeria are appointed by the Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and are considered officers of the Supreme Court.
Functions:
1. Administer oaths and take affidavits and statutory declarations.
2. Witness and authenticate documents, including deeds, powers of attorney, contracts, and licenses.
3. Verify the identity of individuals.
4 Certify documents as true copies of originals.
5. Take acknowledgements of deeds and other conveyances.
6. Provide exemplifications and notarial copies.
